Public health promotion and community support
Our public health team focuses on empowering people and communities to take control of their health and wellbeing.
Programmes such as nutrition and physical activity, injury prevention, smoking cessation, minimising gambling harm and māmā and pēpe hauora are delivered across the community.
Taranaki Stop Smoking coaches provide one-on-one support and group-based programmes to help people quit smoking together. Read more about the great work of this team in our News & Event section.
The Māmā Pēpe Hauora team provides breastfeeding support and encourages the adoption of healthy eating and increased physical activity to whānau with young children. The Pāhake programme for older people focuses on assisting with positive ageing for those aged over 55.
