Pāhake Programme (Aged Persons)

QuickInfo

  • Activities and workshops for older people
  • Range of daytime sessions offered
  • Free and fun
  • Available in New Plymouth and Waitara

The goal of this programme is to provide opportunities for people to age positively, where they are highly valued and recognised as an integral part of whānau and communities. It is open to people between the ages of 55-75.

The day programme is developed alongside pāhake to help reduce social isolation and reconnect them with their peers to create a sense of belonging. It focuses on three areas: Health education, fitness and mobility, and the opportunity to explore and participate in Te Ao Māori. Participants take part in activities, outings and workshops – everything from learning about traditional Māori medicine and visiting other marae, to taking part in exercise and listening to presentations given by agencies such as the police, Taranaki Community Law service and ACC.
The programme is run in New Plymouth and Waitara. See our brochure by clicking on the image below or here.
