Income processes – which is great for assisting job seekers. The knowledge he has gained is attributable to his constant
relationship building and always looking for opportunities.

In his spare time, Chris and his partner maintain a lifestyle block
on the city limits, with ducks, chickens, sheep and cows. All the animals are tame and “cuddle-friendly”.
Chris is building his second trike (three wheeler) motorcycle and he’s been the assistant manager

James Tautuku (Youth Cadet)
Tena Koutou Katoa Ko James Tautuku toku ingoa Ko Aotea te waka Ko Ngati Ruanui me Nga Ruahinerangi me Te Arawa nga iwi
Ko Ngati Manuhiakai toku hapu o Nga Ruahine Ko Waingongoro toku awa Ko Ohawe Beach toku kainga Ko Youth Transition Services toku mahi.
Tena Koutou Tena Koutou, Kia Ora Koutou Katoa
I joined youth transitions on the 7th of June 2011 as a Youth Cadet. I previously had worked with youth voluntarily because it is a passion of mine. The
passion for youth started in 2007 when I started a amateur hip hop group in Hawera aimed at breaking the stereotype of youth in the community and to get
youth off the streets and into doing something productive.
I joined SouthTru(South Taranaki Rangatahi United) which is a youth council of roughly 16 youths, 2 from each town in South Taranaki whose soul purpose
is to make the younger communities become more involved in their community. SouthTRU is under the STDC Umbrella but isn’t apart of the STDC itself. So I
began as a Youth Representative for Hawera and then progressed on to be a Youth Mentor. In 2008 as a mentor of SouthTRU I was nominted and then selected as
one of the top 12 in New Zealand for the ‘Celebrating Everyday Young New Zealanders’ Award, the ceremony was held in Parliament and was one of the most
humbling days of my life.
I went to study in Auckland at the EXCEL School of Performing Arts graduating after 2 years with an Advanced Certificate in Dance, and also was chosen
out of 100 students to be one of the 20 to go on a nationwide tour performing in Schools, Churches and Communities all around New Zealand from Whangarei
to Invercargill, spreading a positive message to empower and inspire. Moving home in 2011 I then yearned to do more for the youth and for my rohe so I began
looking for more mentoring positions and began enquiring to YTS for mentoring programmes which then lead to me being informed of this Youth Cadet role.
I am a very passionate dancer and youth mentor that I have started a local Taranaki Hip Hop group called KOLLEKTIVE Dance Crew whose aim is to inspire and
empower youth to aim for the top, to push through to success and know that there is help available. We are currently getting ready for Maori TV and the
Takitimu Festival. I teach weekly classes in Taranaki for ages 8+, so my youth work is my life. Being with YTS is a dream, I work with amazing people and
I get to help youth and influence them in a positive way.

Megan White (Youth Coach, Central and South Taranaki)
I joined Tui Ora in February 2011 taking on the part time position of administrator at YTS in Hawera. I have also recently been given
the opportunity of having a dual role at YTS as a Youth Coach. I have spent the majority of my adult working life overseas, mainly in
London where I worked in both public and private sectors. I gained a lot of experience working in a variety of roles in different industries,
but always enjoyed having direct contact with the community. I worked as an administrator for the Young People’s Service in London where
the seed for working in social services was planted. Returning from London at the end of 2009 I began working as a support worker for an
in-home health provider before joining Tui Ora.
