Hayden Wano (Chief Executive Officer)
RCpN, PGDipHSM, ADN, MBA, MBS candidate. Hayden has over 25 year’s health sector experience
in mental health, community and medical services. Hayden also has over 15 years experience in senior health
management including the position of Director of Clinical Services with Taranaki Healthcare Limited. Since 1998
Hayden has held the position of CEO with Tui Ora. He is of Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Ngati Mutunga and Ngati Awa Iwi
descent.

Matiu Julian (Client Services Manager)
BEd. Dip Tch (Massey University) Matiu joined Tui Ora in 2004 changing careers from
education to health. Working across the community Matiu has experience in most teaching environments, programme
management, contract management, health promotion, rangatahi at risk, personal training and community mental health
rehabilitation services. Matiu has an interest in health and fitness, Te Ao Maori, business development and
personal development. Married with 3 tamariki with iwi affiliations with Nga Ruahinerangi, Ngati Tupoho, Te Ati
Haunui A Paparangi, Ngati Tama and Ngati Mutunga.

Dean Raven (Information Technology Manager)
MCP, MCSA, MCSA:Security, MCSE, MCSE:Security, MCTS, MCITP:EA, ITIL.
Dean joined TOL in January 2005, having previously worked on our IT systems as a Senior Consultant through Staples
Rodway. Dean has built up a solid reputation over 11 years in providing and supporting IT Services, previous
employers include NZ Police and Abbott Laboratories. Dean is of Ngati Mutanga Iwi.

Jane Hawkins-Jones (Administration Manager)
Jane also joined us in January 2005 bringing with her a wealth of experience in administration and client support
from her previous work, both the health sector via MedLab and as a case manager for WINZ. Jane is married to
Ngawhare Jones, from Ngamahanga Tauri descent.

Evan Watson (Human Resources Manager)
Evan joined the Tui Ora team in December 2005 and brings with him extensive management experience gained in the
meat processing, manufacturing, health care and education industries. He is skilled in a wide variety of
disciplines including human resources, quality management, policy development, auditing, project management, business
systems, information systems and technology, payroll and benefits, finance and administration. Evan is of Te
Atiawa and Ngati Mutunga descent.

Alice Doorbar (Kaimahi Hauora/Cultural Advisor)
Joined TOL in Oct 2005, a background of nursing and volunteer work among iwi from 1975. Maori Community
Health Worker with Taranaki District Health Board since 1989 working throughout Taranaki. Currently involved
within Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals supporting whanau from admission to discharge and return home. Alice is
of Te Atiawa, Ngatimaru and Ngati Ruanui descent.

Marcel Schadt (IT Operations Manager)
MCP, ITIL. Marcel joined Tui Ora Ltd in June 2008. He has 10 years experience in IT, 8 of
which he gained working in London. Over his IT career he has held various roles, from Help Desk support to Systems
Engineer and in more recent years he has held IT Management positions. He has worked in various sectors including
Legal, Corporate, Health, and Utilities.

Hone Rata (IT Data Analyst)
Hone joined us in February 2006 and has recently returned to Taranaki from the United Kingdom. He has 8 years
experience in Information Technology services. His diverse experience ranges from Desktop Support to Database
Administration. Hone has worked in large and small corporate environments. His most recent employers have
been JPMorgan Chase and Coutts.

Paul Tooley (IT Data Analyst)
Paul joined the Tui Ora Ltd team in July 2007 and has 27 years experience in Information Technology, most recently
as IT Business Analyst/Programmer with Methanex NZ Ltd. His experience ranges from implementation projects to
system administration and support.

Peter van Koppen (IT Systems Engineer)
MCP, MCSA, MCSA:Messaging. Peter joined Tui Ora Ltd at the start of March 2006. After having
lived in The Netherlands most of his life he moved to New Zealand in mid 2005 with his wife to be closer to her family.
Peter has worked in IT for five years in various roles like: Desktop support, Software Development, Network
Administration and Design, Database Administration and Server Administration and Design. Before joining us Peter
worked for Synergy in Wellington.

Sharyn Tamarapa (Business-Contracts Administrator)
Sharyn joined the Tui Ora team in November 2005, having previously worked in the Social Services/Early Childhood
sector for 16 years. Sharyn is married to Hamiora (Sam) who is of Ngati Ruanui, Nga Rauru, Taranaki,
Atihaunui-a-paparangi and Te Arawa descent.

Marama Witehira (Receptionist/Business Support Assistant)
Marama joined the Tui Ora team on October 2007, having previously worked for 4 years as an Administrator for
Waiwhakaiho Te Kohanga Reo. Prior to 2003, Marama lived and worked in Australia, and was employed by Westpac for 7
years & Macquarie Bank for 5. Throughout that time, Marama’s duties ranged from frontline telling and lending to
Mortgages processing. Marama is married to Eddie and they have 2 girls. Marama is of Ngati Raukawa descent and
affiliates to Te Atiawa and Ngati Tama and Eddie is of Nga Puhi descent.

(Maria) Fe Marsh (Accountant)
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting, Certified Public Accountant
(Philippines) Fe (as called by friends) has worked as an accountant in various commercial establishments in the
Philippines before migrating to New Zealand. She worked as a Financial Accountant for the Electricity Corporation
of New Zealand (New Plymouth Power Station now Contact Energy) and as an Accountant for Stork Cooperheat New Zealand Ltd
before joining Tui Ora Ltd in April 2006.

Surinder Dhulip Singh (Assistant Accountant)
Bachelor of Financial Administration (Aust), Certified Practising Accountant (Aust) and Masters in Business
Administration(Aust). Surinder worked as an auditor in Ernst & Young in Malaysia for 3 years before
switching to lecturing. She taught Accounting and/or Auditing subjects to students sitting for UK set exams or
Australian university exams. She migrated to New Zealand in 2004 and worked as an auditor for Staples Rodway
before joining Tui Ora Ltd in March 2008.

Bev Anaru (Senior Accounts Clerk)
Bev joined the finance team of TOL in October 2005. She previously worked in administrative and sole charge
office positions.

Janine Sirett (Accounts Clerk)
Janine has 30 years experience in various admin/clerical positions and commenced at TOL in September 2005 in a Temp
Position joining permanently in January 2006 having returned to Taranaki after 20 years away. Janines last
position was Secretary/Admin for the Roading and Services Departments of Waipa District Council in Te Awamutu.

Queenie Mackey (Administrator/Receptionist, Youth Transition Services, New Plymouth)
Queenie joined the YTS team in 2005. After residing overseas for 8 years, she relocated back to New Zealand
October 2004 with her husband. Her work background has always been secretarial and over the years she has
enjoyed working in many different industries which have included fashion design and telecommunications. With
a young family to care for - life at the moment is all about finding balance.

Alex Nash (Youth Coach, North Taranaki)
Alex Nash joined the YTS team in May 2008 as a youth coach. She is of Ngati Tuwharetoa descent. Alex
moved to Taranaki in 2004 from the south island where she was working as an outdoor instructor. Previous to being
at YTS she was a tutor at the New Plymouth YMCA on a couple of there outdoor education programmes. Alex has a four
year old daughter named Indiana and her interests are outdoors, conservation, art and animals.

Brad Huntley (Youth Coach, North Taranaki)
Brad Huntley joined the YTS team in March 2009. He is of Te Atiawa, Ngai Tahu decent. He and his wife
Glenarr and there two boys Awanui and Raniera moved to Taranaki from Waikawa Bay in the Marlborough Sounds. Brad
worked as a Sport and Rec Tutor for the Marlborough Community College for the past 5 years. Prior to that he
worked for Maataa Waka Enterprises as Manager of the Animal Control Contract in Marlborough. He has a partial
degree in Te Reo Maori-Te Tohu Paetahi. Brads interests are Waka Ama, Rugby, Diving and spending time with his
whanau.

Joanah Phillips (Youth Coach, North Taranaki)
Joanah joined Youth Transition Services in February 2007. Previously she worked for 3 years as the
coordinator for North Taranaki Victim Support, having worked as a support worker for two years prior. During her
time with Victim Support Joanah helped found the Taranaki Touched by Suicide Support group which she has co-facilitated
for the past four years. Joanah is a qualified and experienced social service worker supervisor. Joanah has
a background in the hospitality industry where she trained as a chef and then worked in management. Her passions
in life are: fine food, travel and adventure. Joanah grew up in Wellington. Together with husband Dion, she
has two teenage children: Ashley and Courteney.

Manuka Matthews (Youth Coach, North Taranaki)
Manu started working for YTS on 1st September 2009. His Dad is from the far north and his Mum is from Pukerangiora.
One of ten, Waitara Born and Bred. Manu is a proud family man, husband of Jenny from Paekakariki / proud father of 3,
koro (doro), of 4. Manu has a background in paint contracting and more recently, social worker / coach, group
facilitator for men’s habilitation community program. Manu describes his past as colorful, challenging at times which
brought out the radical. Manu enjoys working with people and has a very keen awareness of his environment. Manu has a
strong work ethic, also knows the importance of “letting the boy out to play”. Manu is currently renovating his whanau
home and has set a goal to finish the bulk of it within 2010, “then its play time”. Manu’s hobby is his 1974 3Ltr Ford
Capri, which is patiently sitting in his shed waiting for a facelift. He really enjoys taking his 1550cc Fatboy out,
really noisy, “boy to the max”. Sports are surfing when it’s on and not too cold, golf whenever he can get out there,
and other sports depending on fitness, as these days are about “eating well” “having a good time”, no stress!!!

Maria Hemara-Wahanui (Administrator/Receptionist, Youth Transition Services, Hawera)
Maria joined Tui Ora in September 2006 and set up the Youth Transition Services office in Hawera. Maria has
several years experience in similar roles and loves the challenge of working with youth.

Peter Hokopaura (Youth Coach, Central and South Taranaki)
Peter joined Tui Ora in October 2006 having previously worked as a constable in the police. Prior to this he
worked at the Hawera Freezing works. Peter has a passion for youth and to see them reach their full potential and
sees his role at YTS as a way of helping youth to reach their goals. Peter is married to Suzanne and have 5
children. Peter is of Ngati Ruanui, Pakakohi and Ngarauru descent.

Wendy Eynon (Youth Coach, Central and South Taranaki)
I come from a very diverse working background mainly in government. I am a qualified Polytechnic tutor having
taught for nine years in Tertiary Education and have a strong background working in social services as a Work Broker for
4 years. In the late 90s I returned home to Taranaki and worked as an Administrator with local Iwi. The team
I worked with were responsible for the eventual Treaty Settlement for Ngati Ruanui. In 2004 I moved into middle
management with Ngati Ruanui Group Management Ltd before taking up my current role with YTS. I hope to one day
work more closely with Maori youth within the High Schools. Currently I sit on the BoT at Opunake High School.
Proud to be of Ngaruahine, Nga Rauru, Te Whanau a Apanui and Whakatohea descent, I am married to Raymond and Mum to
Leah, Kahu and Mykel. Our family home is in Kaponga.

Melissa Willis (Community Development Advisor, Waitara)
Melissa Willis joined Tui Ora Ltd in May 2009. Melissa has 4 years work experience with Work and Income in
various positions including Case Management and running the Taranaki health coordination service PATHS. Melissa
has several qualifications including a Diploma of Health and Human Behaviour, a Certificate in Human Sciences, National
Certificate in Public Sector Service, is a Ministry of Social Development Emerging Leaders Graduate and continues her
studies towards her Bachelor of Social Sciences. Melissa is married to Tony and they make their home in
Stratford.
