Mission Statement:

What is Raumano?
Raumano Trust is a Charitable Trust that provides an effective, safe quality kaupapa
Maori service for people (both maori and non-maori) of all ages within South Taranaki.
Raumano is committed to empowering individuals and whanau/families in decisions towards
wellness and educating the wider community in issues of mental health.
Our Team Consists Of:
Whanuau Ora Kuia Koroua Kaimahi - Kaumatua / Elderly:
The Resource Manager provides day programmes for Kaumatua / Elderly that consist of
health support and education sessions such as asthma, diabetes, nutrition, exercise,
mobility, mirimiri, breast screening, health management plans. Other programmes include
crafts, shopping days, games and hikoi/trips.
Child and Adolescent Specialist Social Worker:
The Child and Adolescent Worker works with young people up to the age of 18. Services
offered range from individual therapy to education for the community in regards to
maintaining Oranga Tangata - People Wellness.
Tamariki Rangatahi Specialist:
The Tamariki and Rangatahi Specialist works with young people up to the age of 18. We
provide sessions which can include assessment, education or therapy for a range of issues
that may hinder growth for Tamariki/children Rangatahi/young persons in the areas of
home, school, family and community.
Consumer Advocate & Peer Support Worker:
The role of the Consumer Advocate is to inform:
- Individuals and their whanau / family of their rights
- Of access to appropriate services
- The best course of action, assist in conflict / crisis resolution
- The use of medication and the effects
- Other available therapies
- Access to and identification of community Mental Health Services
- The Mental health Act and its implications
Early Intervention / First Time Psychosis Worker:
The Early Intervention Worker works with individuals and families providing early
intervention and prevention strategies to those diagnosed with first time psychosis or
those at risk of developing a mental illness.
Provision of support and linking with resources are encouraged, including maintaining
a level of wellness and meeting needs of the person with a focus towards recovery.
Alcohol & Drug Worker
Our drug & alcohol counselor can assist you to identify areas in your life that have
been affected by the use of substances. He/she can then assist you to make and maintain
(any) changes (you may make).
This includes : Education, counseling, referrals to inpatient treatment and detox
services, and seeing someone in the cultural setting for the individual.
Meaningful Activities
To Assist people within South Taranaki who have or have had a psychiatric disability by
encouraging social interaction, and life skills that will enhance wellbeing
This includes: Crafts, cooking, literacy, fund raising, events and many other activities
of individual choice.
