The goal of this programme is to provide opportunities for people to age positively, where they are highly valued and recognised as an integral part of whānau and communities. It is open to people between the ages of 55-75.
The day programme is developed alongside pāhake to help reduce social isolation
and reconnect them with their peers to create a sense of belonging. It focuses
on three areas: Health education, fitness and mobility, and the opportunity to
explore and participate in Te Ao Māori. Participants take part in activities,
outings and workshops – everything from learning about traditional Māori
medicine and visiting other marae, to taking part in exercise and listening to
presentations given by agencies such as the police, Taranaki Community Law
service and ACC.
