Tui Ora to offer cultural growth and development workshops
In the next few months Taranaki businesses will have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops to build their foundation knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga.
The first programme to be offered consists of two one-day workshops which will be delivered by Tui Ora Training Facilitator Keri Elvin (Taranaki, Ngāruahine). The programme focusses on developing confidence in using te reo Māori and to build an understanding of why various protocols are followed.
The programme is targeted to meet the needs of businesses. The workshops can be run either on site or at locations that suit a maximum of 10 participants at a time.
“We encourage businesses who have no or limited knowledge engage with Māori clients to take this opportunity to upskill in a safe and supportive environment,” says Keri. “These workshops provide an insight into te ao Māori (Māori worldview).”
Registrations for June workshops are now open. This is the first of a suite of growth and development workshops which will be offered to businesses across the region.
Keri has extensive experience in adult eduction, cultural facilitation and business coaching. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with local employers and their staff.
