About this Service

Tiki Toa is a collaborative project with the Department of Conservation (DOC), Taranaki Mounga Project, Te Pihipihinga Kakano Mai I Rangiatea and Devon Intermediate.

Developed for intermediate school-age children, it focuses on facilitating a connection to Maunga Taranaki, te taiao (natural environment) and Te Ao Māori (Māori world view) to support and improve holistic wellbeing.

Tui Ora staff run group programmes on the maunga, and around the Taranaki region at sites such as local pā.

Whānau of participants are encouraged to be involved in the final hikoi to celebrate their successes.

Criteria

Young people on the programme are nominated from partner schools, with no open referrals.
